Or a crack dream, one of the two.

So there's no way auto manufacturers don't know that people like us use their configurators to build cars when we're bored. I think it would be cool for them to keep older model's configurators around for people like the that want to build an older model of a car. I think that would be cool.

For instance, I just had the urge to build an E92 3-series, but I can't. BMW should put a little menu somewhere that says "Other Model Years" and has configurators for those years as well.

It could kinda be used a shopping tool as well. People want to buy a used model, the configure one on the website, then see if there are any certified pre-owned ones that match their criteria.

Kinja'd!!!

Does anyone else that would kinda be a cool thing?

Also, do you have any old configurations on your computer of an out-of-production car?

This is Brilliant! But I like to use NetCarShow.com to find specs and info on older models, highly recommend it!

Yes! That could have saved me sooooo much time... Well not tons, the 335is 6MT is more rare than the 1M, but it would have certainly been nice.

And Hey! That's ALMOST my car! ;)

I love the 335is, it's probably my favorite of all the E9x 3-series models.

Very good taste, I LOVE the car. I honestly have no plans to ever sell the beauty. The N54 pops and burbles, crackles on the over run, it has the last of the bewitching steering, it's rarer and better proportioned to the natural lines of the E92..... I don't know if I have been clear enough, but every time I drive it I know why every F3X I've driven is such a disappointment. While the E9X M3 was conflicted, in my opinion, between a heavier road car and the go-faster bits of a light weight, high revving race car, the 335is is the unabashed street machine... I'll be getting an E36 M3 to strip to the tub for a race car.

Edit: That is a FANTASTIC idea you had and I've wished that BMW would introduce exactly that for the 328i Msport 6MT I've been hoping to find.

My dad's 2013 335is 6MT just had $20,000+ worth of damage done to it by a punk kid in a WRX. He's not getting it back until August at the earliest. Both front frame rails bent.

Yeah he's forced to drive a rental Nissan Altima until then. It's all around very depressing.

What?!?!? I mean I know it's a long time for a dealer, but is he having their body shop do it? I've always gotten loaners even for longer services because they know I'm more OCD about any car, including loaners, that they have no concerns, sure, but also because they always view it as a chance for me to get another BMW.
